What is Love?
"๐ฆ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ธ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ง๐ฟ๐๐๐ต ๐ถ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐๐ฒ" is one of Pattern's (most challenging) core values. The question is: what is love?
Let's get this out of the way, first: Ridiculous YouTube Clip
I hope after that I haven't completely lost you after that. ๐
If you ask most people, they will describe love as being a strong feeling of affection. But as you know we plagiarized "Speak the truth in love" right out of the Bible. (Not really, we have permission from the author.)
๐ญ ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ต๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป๐ ๐ญ๐ฏ:๐ฐ-๐ด does a fantastic job of describing the kind of love we want to emulate at Pattern especially when we are communicating with each other.
So, let's get to it;
Do be patient
โขDo be kind
โขDon't be envious
โขDo be humble
โขDon't be self-seeking
โขDo honor others
โขDon't get easily angered
โขDon't hold grudges
โขDo be truthful
โขDo be hopeful
โขDo persevere
What would it be like if we all postured ourselves this way toward each other?
Which of behaviors listed is most challenging to you?
Now, what is ๐ญ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป you can change to today to grow in your capability of love?
For me, when I review this list, I most need to work on not holding grudges. I do not hold grudges often, but it does happen. My nature is to internalize and try to forget. But seeds of bitterness tend to take root.
An action that I can take is to simply communicate my anger and/or frustration within 24 hours. That's gives me time to allow emotions to settle and collect my thoughts, but it doesn't leave things hanging too long allowing bitterness to take root.
